Look out! Hip-Hop fans, there’s a new diva in town. Look out! R&B fans, there’s a new diva in town. That’s right, there’s a fierce new artist coming to you with soul-power vocals and hip-hop flow. Her name is Tameka Travon, and she is a breath of fresh air to the industry because of her versatility. This sultry songstress is breaking it down about love, lust, relationships and heartache in a way that is understandable for everyone from the boardroom to the boardwalk. Educated with a healthy dose of Gospel, Hip-Hop, and R&B, Tameka’s got a message for listeners in Park Avenue or on the park bench.
Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, this Queen City diva developed her love for music singing lead in her grandmother’s church choir at the tender age of five (5). “This Little Light of Mine” was always a favorite of hers to sing. Maybe it’s because letting her light shine is exactly what this “street-diva” with the anointed voice was born to do. But don’t get it twisted, this “HLIC”-Head Lady In Charge is definitely more than just a pretty face and sweet voice. This singer/rapper also writes and produces. On her first project, she has written the lyrics to all her tracks, and produced or co-produced on several such as “Bye-Bye Love” and “Last Time”.
Tameka has performed at several venues in the Charlotte area and is quickly becoming a mainstay in the growing Charlotte music scene. She has been a featured artist at many of the QC’s hottest underground spots such as Club Prevue, Club Eclipse, and is currently a recurring special guest at Mc Bonies and Anntony’s Caribbean Cafe. McBonies is a favorite spot for some of Charlotte’s hottest music alumni such as K-Ci Haley of Jodeci fame to stop by.
Born March 15th, this Piscean is on a mission to realize her dreams of being a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Tameka believes you should never let your dreams die, and that it’s never too late to fulfill your dreams.
